Stow Park can almost claim its own missionary society! Ron Prosser, one of the Elders, is the founder of Health Help International and the church supports him and the charity 100%. In fact the head office is in our chapel building and it is run by a committed group of volunteers. It all started in 1999 when Ron responded to an appeal from a hospital in Zambia which had no doctor. We seek to help the less fortunate, young and old, in those parts of the world where poverty and local conditions adversely affect them.
Our mission is to obey God's command to love our neighbour as ourselves, to heal the sick and care for the weak and poor. We seek to do this by providing money for hospital and clinic infra-structure, by supplying medical equipment, and funding medical aid to those unable to afford hospitalization or treatment in Zambia and India. Where ever possible we focus on self-help and sustainable ventures to ensure the dignity of the recipients.
In Monze we have our own sister organisation Health Help International Zambia which we fund directly. We aim to run a medical outreach programme using vehicles donated by the supporters in the UK and we aim to assist the disabled and vulnerable where ever possible. Each year we finance the transportation of a 20ft container to Monze filled with freely donated mobility aids, clothes, tools, sewing machines and computers.
These are then distributed to rural communities or used within our Headquarters to train the disabled in vocational skills. We also provide equipment for income generating ventures such as a printing press, a restaurant, a farm, and a motor vehicle workshop which can then generate funds to help finance our charitable work. In India we work with the low caste people through a very humble Australian by the name of Tom Sutherland. We assist many TB patients, fund a refuge for mentally disabled and destitute women, build and maintain 2 orphanages, and we have supported the town of Colachel which was badly hit by the Tsunami.
Our support is mainly from individual donations and churches. Funds are also raised from the sales of greeting cards and stationary from our catalogue and on-line shop as well as our alternative gift scheme.
With your help we can continue to help those who are less fortunate and bring a brighter future to many.
